The Young Peoples Festival

Alongside the main Food and Music Festival
Plans are underway for many exciting activities for
all the family which will take place on the playing fields
close to the Harbour in Porthleven.

The Young People's Festival

will include the following items:-

A top chef's cooking demonstration for children
(Sanjay Kumar, Head Chef of the Greenbank Hotel, Falmouth).

Funky Chicken
Funky Food Area run by the Cornwall Farmers' Wives to illustrate the relationship between what we grow and what we eat.
The compilation and publishing of a Children's Cookery Book with recipes provided by the village children, with a forward by Sanjay Kumar and our Patron, Antony Worrall Thompson.
Mixed Vegetables
Porthleven Primary School Children's Cooking Club – using vegetables they have grown in their school garden to cook for the audience.
Demonstrations of pastry and pancake making.
Play Rangers
Play Rangers for the under 10's with fire building and cooking.
Fancy Dress Competition: “Creatures from Under the Sea”

A Skate Jam
– to be held on a Skate Boarding Area of the Playing Field.

Drym Valley selling asparagus

Drym Valley have helped make bunting for the Festival Marquee and will be selling their asparagus at the Young Person's Festival.
Drym Valley Centre is a unique rural activity resource. Set in an exceptionally beautiful and secluded part of West Cornwall, the centre provides the opportunity for adults with special needs to enjoy a lively and beneficial rural experience. It is a small, caring centre run by an experienced and dedicated team who offer top level supervision and care.

Drym Valley Centre specialises in day care provision for adults from 18 years upward primarily from the Kerrier and Penwith districts. Other activities include: Livestock care and welfare, Conservation and land management, Horticulture, Woodworking, Pottery and crafts, Social skills development, Quarterly newsletter

Natural England and the National Marine Aquarium ' s joint roadshow will highlight the fantastic diversity of marine habitats in the south-west. From rocky reefs encrusted with jewel anemones to waving fields of seagrass, the south-west has them all. A willing and knowledgeable marine team will be at hand to tell you more about the habitats our wonderful sea life calls home.

Natural England's Walking for Health (WfH) encourages you to enjoy your local natural spaces and benefit your health by taking part in health walks. We're the largest national body promoting and setting the standards for led health walks. To find out more about what a health walk is, and how to set up a health walking scheme in Porthleven, the Walking for Health adviser for Cornwall will be available after the Eden lecture at St. Bartholemew ' s Church on Friday and at the roadshow on Saturday to answer questions. There will also be a taster session: a squirly hat taster health walk at 11.15am on Sunday .

Face painting Mr Magic

Mr Magic will be performing at 1pm and 3pm in the Young person's Marquee.

Face painting will be on offer throughout the day.
