Walking for Health

In partnership with Claire Frances of Salt Cellar Hats, Natural England is organising a taster health walk on Sunday at 11.15. The health walk will be gentle, catering for all abilities, and take roughly one hour. To join the walk, we invite you to “ rent” a squirly hat for £2 from Salt Cellar Hats (all proceeds will go to Shelter Box) or bring your own – if you've got one.

We will meet at the Salt Cellar from 10.45 onwards, to give everyone time to choose their favourite hat. To ensure that we have enough squirly hats to go around, we would like you to sign-up for the walk before the Festival at the Corner Deli on Fore Street, or at the Walk for Health stand at the Festival on Saturday. You can of course, just turn up at 11.15 and make your donation to Shelterbod.

If you won't be able to make the walk, but are interested in setting up a health walking scheme in Porthleven, you can sign up for that at the Deli, too.

Walking in a group is a great way to start some physical activity and to stay motivated.
Walking can:

  • make you feel good
  • give you more energy
  • reduce stress and help you sleep better
  • keep your heart healthy and reduce blood pressure
  • help to manage your weight.
